description: Betty Dong is the final entry in this first beauty and talent contest ever staged in our Vancouver Chinese community. The petite sophomore at UBC is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dong Chong, a prominent family from Alert Bay, B.C. Betty captivates everyone with whom she comes in contact with her charm, grace and poise. She comes from a family of outstanding beauties and scholars. All her brothers and sisters are university graduated. One of her sister, Lily, whose husband Robert Lee is the manager of T.K. Lee Ltd. is the only Chinese Canadian in UBC history to capture the campus 'Homecoming Queen' crown. Betty likes reading, good movies and spectator sports. She is five feet even and tips the scale at 101 lbs. (continues in p10, 25)
