description: Miss Nanaimo, 1970 is lovely Mary Kong, 20, who came to Canada eight years ago from Hong Kong. The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Kong is now a Canadian citizen attending senior high school. Her main interests are sports, reading and an active part in the arts. She loves her new country and feels there is more for young people in a smaller city like Nanaimo than there is in the oriental megapolis where people are jammed into a small area. Mary was entered as Miss Serauxmen in the contest and was escorted to all the functions by Gilbert Wong.
