description: VANCOUVER'S CHINATOWN is agog with elaborate preparations for VISIT CHINATOWN WEEK commencing March 26 and ending on April 1. A preliminary to these events will be the showing of The Inn of Sixth Happiness opening at the Capitol Theatre on March 16. Our cover gives a glimpse of the exterior theatre display adorned by a well-known Vancouver Chinese-Canadian girl - Mamie Mah, a semi-professional model who is a supervisor of current accounts at the Victory Square branch of the Toronto Dominion Bank. The play is based on the life of a British missionary to China (see Chinatown News March 3.) Chinese merchants will have displays at the Capitol and will decorate the premises with Chinese scrolls, paintings, lanterns, and will also serve tea (Chinese style) in the lounge during the intermission. The event will give Occidentals a colorful glimmer of Oriental life. Mamie, who poses so gracefully on the cover, has been featured in a number of nationally known periodicals including the Vancouver Sun, Weekend Magazine and the Toronto Star. She was born in Edmonton and now resides at 1147 Pendrell Street, Vancouver.
